Why is it so difficult?
So, you know how harmful alcohol is and you really want to quit. But it is so darn difficult. Is something wrong with you?
NO. Urges are strong, so strong that the part of brain that controls reasoning and planning (pre-frontal cortex) gets overridden by the brain. This is why you find it difficult to think and make the right decisions. So, you are not alone in finding quitting difficult. Literally everybody who has EVER quit alcohol has faced some of the same challenges and found it extremely difficult, and many have had to try several times before they succeeded. Yet they made it and so can you.
