Temperature

Opt for a quick temperature change, like stepping outside on a cold day, splashing your face with cold water, or holding an ice cube to your face. This quick state change triggers our mammalian diving reflex, and our body begins to act as if we’ve jumped into a frozen lake. Our parasympathetic nervous system (the one that brings us down) kicks in, our heart rate drops, and those stress hormones stop pumping.
