As we learn how to reframe our thoughts, a helpful exercise to utilize is Byron Katie’s “The Work” exercise. The Work is a meditative exercise that helps us identify unhelpful thoughts about past or present experiences, question their validity, and reframe them in a more helpful way. This practice is helpful for us as we remove alcohol from our lives, and it can also be applied in other situations as a useful tool for a healthier outlook.

This exercise utilizes four steps: notice, write, question, and turn it around. To begin, find a comfortable seated position and begin dialing into your breath or drop into meditation.
