A New Hope Within

If the brain causes cravings and confusion, it also provides hope. The longer you go without alcohol, more receptors are repaired, and dopamine production is restored – this means your urges will keep reducing as time goes by. And while urges might make it difficult to plan and reason when you have them, we can have plans in place and practice techniques that’ll help us make good decisions even in bad situations.

The plasticity of our brain lets it rewire and change itself. Just like how the unhealthy brain pathways were formed due to drinking alcohol, newer pathways could be generated through methods such as meditation, planning, reflection, identifying triggers and more techniques that we will learn over the next few days and weeks. But let’s take it one step at a time. The most important thing is to BELIEVE, and you will ACHIEVE even if there are a few hiccups along the way.
